The Story

The 20 Francs Marianne Rooster Gold Coin is the “star” of the Napoleon coins since it is the only exchangeable one. Issued in 117,246,529 copies. It is the main investment in exchangeable gold coins in France.

It is the French gold coin emblematic of the period when the Gold Franc flourished in Europe. With an original design signed Jules-Clément Chaplain which is prefigured on the obverse and reverse of a French gold coin. The first time in several years.

After 1905 and the separation of church and state, coins had to follow the developments of the time. The words engraved on the edge of the coin “God protects France” replaced in 1907 by “Liberté Egalité Fraternité” and re-minted in the 1950s. The 20 Francs Gold “Marianne Coq” coins from 1907-1914 are very numerous and in excellent condition since they have not been circulated.
